Warning: this article contains spoilers for Venom #1!

Fans have been wondering if the new series would star a familiar face like Eddie Brock or Mac Gargan or if an entirely new character would take up the Venom mantle. As it turns out, the latter is the case. The symbiote has been passed on to a completely new character named Lee Price. Like previous host, Flash Thompson, Lee is a disabled military veteran, though he lacks Flash"s strong moral compass.

Lee bonds with the Venom symbiote in this issue by chance, as a crime deal goes bad and the symbiote protects Lee from being shot to death. The symbiote thinks it"s found a worthy new partner, but it"s horrified to realize that its latest host is a cruel, amoral killer. Having been so recently cured of its madness in the pages of Guardians of the Galaxy, the symbiote is now in danger of becoming a bloodthirsty killer all over again. And therein lies the biggest difference between this Venom and the ones that have come before. This time, the suit is the hero and the wearer is the villain.
