Nintendo Reveals Digital File Sizes For Select Switch Titles

Nintendo"s Japanese Switch website has revealed the digital file sizes of some of Switch"s titles, including one that already requires its own SD card.

The console has 32GB of internal storage (not including the footprint of the OS), so if you want to buy any games digitally,* you"ll either have to make sure they fit on the system or buy a separate SD card for your purchases. The Switch supports large-sized SD cards, although these could run you a lot of money.

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 13.4GB

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 7+GB

  • Puyo Puyo Tetris – 1.09GB

  • Disgaea 5 – 5.92GB

  • Snipperclips – 1.60GB

  • I Am Setsuna – 1.4GB

  • Dragon Quest Heroes I & II – 32GB

  • Nobunaga"s Amibition – 5GB

*Of course, if you plan on buying these or any other Switch games in their traditional boxed form on their own cards, you won"t have to worry about file sizes since unlike the PS4 and Xbox One, the Switch does not require that its titles be downloaded from the actual card.

Our Take
As my 1TB hard drive I installed on my PS4 fills up, I appreciate Nintendo not requiring that even titles bought in physical form require a full install (and most games" smaller file sizes). However, the possibility of having to buy a separate SD card that could run over $100 easily (depending on its size) just to buy games digitally is ridiculous.
